XX POETRY
The xx Poetry wall tile art installation is a purposeful architectural intervention, central to the transformation of the HERZ project, and serves as the most prominent feature in the space. During the renovation, tiles from the socialist period were discovered beneath the plaster. Using the same type of tiles, the installation, made up of a 228-part raster of tiles, captures the essence of the past.
Though it may seem random, the design is meticulously planned, with each piece hand-drawn, cut, and numbered on-site. The entire process was documented on video. The installation merges personal and collective memory, with the broken tiles symbolizing the collapse of an era—serving as fragments that tell the story of the past.
Through its materiality and composition, the installation functions as a sculptural element within the space.
