Project LE < 3, Art Residency and Gallery RAVNIKAR
The project LE<3 (Just Love) is an ode to the contemporary art scene. The newly designed space combines a private residence and gallery space (Ravnikar Gallery Space) as a reflection of the zeitgeist — a time in which our homes are transforming into home offices and art galleries are being reformed into hybrid spaces. By merging public and private elements, the project presents a unique architectural challenge and raises questions: how can warmth be created in a home despite the white walls and minimalist design? How can privacy be maintained despite the public nature of the space? Is it an apartment in a gallery or a gallery in an apartment? The space was designed with the client in mind - friendly and functional for everyday use, while meeting the criteria of a public space open to a wider audience. Half of the apartment serves as a residential living area, while the other half functions as a gallery with a storage area for artworks.
The gallery space is designed to be flexible, allowing it to transform into a living room when needed. A key feature in the space is the remarkable artwork installation Building Blocks, which simultaneously serves as a table, kitchen island, display space for art, and a venue for gatherings or relaxed conversations. The space’s character is further enhanced by other architect's unique pieces of furniture such as the Love Letters nightstands and bed in the bedroom, Hang On hangers and brass shelf in the bathroom, Concretable table in the office. Most of the spaces are revealed and visible to visitors, with the exception of the bedroom, which remains a mystery — off-limits to visitors. Here, a reflection arises on the importance of distinguishing between private and public life, a boundary that has become increasingly blurred in the digital age.
