FOR ADAM
Once home to officers in a multi-apartment building from 1926, this space has been transformed through renovation into a modern living environment for a young entrepreneur with a bon vivant lifestyle. The renovation was based on the concept of upcycling – existing elements were thoughtfully reshaped and integrated into a contemporary setting. The original parquet flooring was preserved, adding warmth and a connection to the past. A partition wall was replaced with a beam, allowing more light and better spatial flow. The dining-living area and bathroom underwent a complete renovation. At the heart of the apartment stands a hybrid intervention between a dining table and a kitchen island. Due to spatial limitations, a classic island was not feasible, so a marble table with a metal base transitions into a mirrored cube with bar stools, serving as both a work and social space. The kitchen walls, partially stripped to expose the raw structure, reveal material layers that narrate the building’s history. The kitchen itself becomes a sculptural element within the space—at first glance understated, yet conceptually bold. The surrounding walls feature curated artworks and a modular cabinet from the Building Blocks series, designed by the architect. This remarkable piece can function as a TV console or remain a standalone visual highlight in the living space. The apartment breathes in the rhythm of eclecticism – like a layered confection, where materials, colors, and stories intertwine and reveal themselves at every turn. At the same time, it allows the space to transform over time in response to the evolving needs and perspectives of its inhabitant.
